Lawyer Referral

 

For individuals and families who do not qualify for free assistance, or for those who seek assistance outside our areas of expertise, HALSA provides referrals to private practice attorneys in Los Angeles County who have been screened and selected based on their experience in specific areas of the law. Referrals are free and we are certified by the California State Bar. All attorneys are members in good standing with the Bar, with no pending public disciplinary complaints and all carry professional liability insurance. Lawyers participating in our service may offer you up to a half-hour free consultation and reduced fees based on your income. This consultation may be over the phone, or in person (the choice is up to the lawyer). During this time, you can ask:

  • How the law applies to your situation
  • How to use the law to solve your legal problem
  • How long the legal work may take
  • How much the lawyer will charge

 

After the consultation, you can decide if you want to hire the lawyer to work for you.
